MistyWest is a product development firm accelerating the world’s transition to a sustainable future through design of intelligent connected devices. Their client roster includes Google, Meta, Amazon and World Wildlife Fund, with a portfolio showcasing polar bear tracking devices and muon tomographers that harness cosmic rays from space.
Following a re-brand in 2018 by Not An Office and Wedge Studio, MistyWest had refined company positioning and a new visual identity. My responsibility as the brand manager and director of content was to apply these guidelines to all of MistyWest’s assets and to continue upholding them going forward.
One of MistyWest’s key channels for collecting leads is the company website. Having been re-launched in 2018, it was due for a refresh in 2023 as company focus had shifted over the years. Working with the CEO, CTO and VP of Engineering, I re-built the MistyWest website with a brutalist-style art direction and fully responsive user experience, and added new pages dedicated to the company’s core verticals and horizontals.
As MistyWest evolved over time, I updated the company’s brand guidelines to reflect changes to messaging and positioning. The visual guidelines informed the creation of capabilities statements, company swag and graphics, including flagship event series the Misties Awards and Vancouver Hardware Meetup. MistyWest’s voice and positioning was carefully considered in all social posts, marketing emails and blog posts.
